Una consideración adecuada de la afectividad ha de conceder toda la importancia que les corresponde a los afectos propiamente espirituales, que se despliegan en torno a la inteligencia y la voluntad, y distinguirlos claramente, a su vez, del amor electivo. Mientras este amor es una operación eminentemente activa, los sentimientos, también los espirituales, son pasivos o re-activos.
