La condición de persona, aunque reside en el acto personal de ser, se manifiesta de manera eminente a través del ejercicio de la libertad. El análisis de la libertad comienza en la esfera del hacer externo, pasa por las del querer y elegir y desemboca en los dominios del ser: es capacidad de autoconstruirse, de llegar a ser aquello que se está llamado a ser. La manifestación suprema de la libertad humana es, para cada persona, la libre aceptación amorosa del propio ser y del ser de cuanto la rodea.

The condition of being a person, although residing in the personal act of being, is eminently manifested through the exercise of freedom. The analysis of freedom begins in the sphere of external doing, passes through wanting and choosing, and ends in the dominion of being: it is a capacity to self-create, to be that which is meant to be. The supreme manifestation of human freedom is, for each person, the free and lo¬ving acceptance of the self and of all that surrounds it.
